“Hai presente il fenomeno della pareidolia? È un fenomeno subcosciente che crea l’illusione di similitudine tra un oggetto dalla forma a noi nota e uno dalla forma casuale. Ecco. Per me è un ossessione da sempre”

Gela anni ‘90: “Ricordo da bambino, nei telegiornali locali, immagini di sagome distese per terra coperte da un lenzuolo bianco, era quasi all’ordine del giorno. Persino attraverso il finestrino della fiat 500 di mio papà, la sera, di ritorno a casa, assistetti a una scena simile; Tant’è che a scuola elementare, illustrando un dettato della maestra sull’argomento mafia, disegnai due figure in moto col casco che sparavano ad un uomo già avvolto in un lenzuolo fluttuante”.

“Do you know the phenomenon of pareidolia? It is a subconscious phenomenon that creates the illusion of similarity between an object with a shape known to us and one with a random shape. There! It’s always been an obsession for me.”

Gela 90s: “When I was child, I remember images of silhouettes lying on the ground covered by a white sheet broadcaasted by the TV news of my city. I witnessed a similar scene even through the window of my dad’s Fiat 500, on the way home in the evening. When I was in elementary school, illustrating a teacher’s dictation on the subject of the mafia, I drew two figures on motorbikes with helmets shooting to a man already wrapped in a floating sheet.”

Attualmente vive e lavora a Palermo.

Giuffrida ha studiato Arti Visive all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo.

Nel 2007 ha conseguito la laurea specialistica in Pittura. La sua arte si sviluppa attraverso la pittura che, al servizio dell’immagine e del suo impatto estetico e comunicativo, acquisisce una competenza personale e intima.

Il suo codice espressivo si struttura stando sia ai valori della figurazione tradizionale sia alle competenze dei linguaggi odierni.

La pratica di Emanuele è riconducibile a una ricerca bifocale: un presente denso di spunti e studi – che spaziano dalla contemporaneità ai grandi maestri della pittura – e un passato denso di ricordi legati all’esperienza infantile nella sua città natale.

Nel 2018 Giuffrida inaugura una mostra personale presso la galleria Lo Magno di Modica, curata da Rischa Paterlini.

Nel 2019 è tra i finalisti dell’ottava edizione del premio Fondazione VAF, ottenendo la menzione speciale da parte dei membri della giuria, Museo Mart, Rovereto, Italia; Stadtgalerie, Kiel, Germania.

Nel 2020 e nel 2023 Giuffrida partecipa ad Art Fiera Bologna rappresentato dalla Galleria Lo Magno. Nel 2023 espone in Triste, solitario y final, curata da Vittorio Sgarbi, presso il Museo di Palazzo Doebbing, Sutri (VT). Nel 2024 la sua collaborazione con la galleria Lo Magno prosegue con la partecipazione ad Art Verona, Italia e Roma Arte in Nuvola, fiera che si svolge a Roma.

Nel 2025 partecipa nello stand Lo Magno artecontemporanea a Investec Cape Town Art Fair 12^edizione, Città del Capo, Sudafrica

Le opere di Giuffrida fanno parte della collezione della Fondazione VAF, Germania e della collezione del SACS, Museo Riso, Palermo, Italia.

Emanuele Giuffrida (Gela, 1982)

Currently lives and works in Palermo.

Giuffrida studied Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo.

In 2007 he obtained a specialist degree in Painting. His art develops through painting which, at the service of the image and its aesthetic and communicative impact, acquires a personal and intimate skill.

His expressive code is structured standing both for the values of traditional figuration and the skills of today’s languages.

Emanuele’s practice can be traced back to a bifocal research: a present full of insights and studies – ranging from the contemporary to the great masters of painting – and a past full of memories linked to his childhood experience in his hometown.

In 2018 Giuffrida held a solo show at Lo Magno gallery in Modica, curated by Rischa Paterlini.

In 2019 he was among the finalists of the eighth edition of the VAF Foundation award, obtaining the special mention award by jury members, Mart Museum, Rovereto, Italy; Stadtgalerie, Kiel,Germany.

In 2020 and in 2023 Giuffrida took part in Art Fiera Bologna represented by Lo Magno Gallery. In 2023 he exhibited in Triste, solitario y final, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi, at the Museum of Palazzo Doebbing, Sutri (VT). In 2024 his collaboration with the Lo Magno gallery continued with the participation to Art Verona, Italy and Roma Arte in Nuvola, a fair taking place in Rome.

In 2025 he participated in the Lo Magno artecontemporanea booth at Investec Cape Town Art Fair 12th edition, Cape Town, South Africa

Giuffrida artworks are part of the collection of VAF Foundation, Germany and the collection of SACS, Riso Museum, Palermo, Italy.
