Sasha Vinci 1980, è un artista eclettico, che sperimenta con differenti linguaggi contemporanei.
Ha una formazione da scultore, ma la sua ricerca – che egli stesso definisce “schizofrenica”, per la costante e irrefrenabile necessità a cercare e originare nuovi stimoli e nuove opere – si è sempre contraddistinta per l’utilizzo di diversi media: disegno, pittura, performance, installazione, scrittura e musica si combinano in vario modo nei suoi progetti.
Ogni suo lavoro, quasi sempre site specific, è da considerarsi un’azione pubblica che ha origine dall’individuo per estendersi a una collettività di persone: è un domandarsi insieme come reagire ad alcune importanti questioni sociali, politiche e ambientali e come acquisire nuovi codici di comportamento civile.
Le sue opere sintetizzano di frequente le polarità dell’essere umano, le sue tensioni opposte, le luci e le ombre che lo contraddistinguono. Allo stesso tempo però sono opere fortemente simboliche, che parlano di comunità e ridisegnano una nuova forma della realtà, delle “utopie possibili” che decodificano il presente, cercando una via di convivenza più rispettosa tra gli esseri umani e le altre specie di viventi.

Sasha Vinci 1980, is an eclectic artist, who experiments with different contemporary languages.
He is trained as a sculptor, but his research – which he himself defines as “schizophrenic”, due to the constant and irrepressible need to seek and originate new stimuli and new works – has always been characterized by the use of different media: drawing, painting , performance, installation, writing and music combine in various ways in his projects.
Each of his works, almost always site-specific, is to be considered a public action that originates from the individual and extends to a community of people: it is a question of asking ourselves together how to react to some important social, political and environmental issues and how to acquire new codes of civil behavior.
His works frequently synthesize the polarities of the human being, his opposing tensions, the lights and shadows that distinguish him. At the same time, however, they are highly symbolic works, which speak of community and redesign a new form of reality, of “possible utopias” that decode the present, seeking a more respectful way of coexistence between human beings and other living species.

In alcune opere, come Non si disegna il cielo e Canta Napoli, viene raggiunto un livello di sintesi e un grado di poeticità elevati, quando l’artista dà voce al paesaggio attraverso la creazione di un canto che è la trasposizione sul rigo musicale dello skyline della città scelta: opere sinestetiche che coinvolgono totalmente il pubblico ed evocano sensazioni percettive di natura diversa.
Oggi la sua ricerca è orientata a sviluppare e approfondire il tema del Multinaturalismo: un processo di ibridazione dove umano, non umano e natura si fondono insieme in nuove e sorprendenti configurazioni.
Sotto il punto di vista formale egli recupera dalla sua Terra, la Sicilia, alcuni elementi che appartengono alla tradizione, rinnovandone il significato. Il fiore, che decora le bardature dei cavalli nella Festa di San Giuseppe a Scicli, nelle performance di Vinci si trasforma in simbolo di azione politica e presa di coscienza collettiva per cambiare il presente. Il pennacchio colorato, invece, utilizzato nelle feste tradizionali siciliane, viene modificato e si trasforma in un vessillo di leggerezza, è metafora del volo, superamento dei limiti umani.
E poi vi è la musica che da sempre accompagna il percorso dell’artista e confluisce nelle sue opere in maniera naturale e spontanea, sia come accompagnamento e colonna sonora per le performance, sia come suono che si riproduce in loop nelle installazioni.

In some works, such as Don’t draw the sky and Canta Napoli, a high level of synthesis and a degree of poeticity is reached, when the artist gives voice to the landscape through the creation of a song which is the transposition of the skyline onto the musical staff of the chosen city: synesthetic works that totally involve the public and evoke perceptive sensations of a different nature.
Today his research is aimed at developing and deepening the theme of Multinaturalism: a process of hybridization where human, non-human and nature blend together in new and surprising configurations.
From a formal point of view he recovers from his homeland, Sicily, some elements that belong to tradition, renewing their meaning. The flower, which decorates the harnesses of the horses in the Festa di San Giuseppe in Scicli, in Vinci’s performances transforms into a symbol of political action and collective awareness to change the present. The colored plume, however, used in traditional Sicilian festivals, is modified and transformed into a banner of lightness, it is a metaphor for flight, overcoming human limits.
And then there is the music that has always accompanied the artist’s path and flows into his works in a natural and spontaneous way, both as accompaniment and soundtrack for performances and as sound that is reproduced in loops in installations.

Questo forte legame con la musica lo porta a collaborare assiduamente con il musicista Vincent Migliorisi, con il quale ha anche creato, tra gli innumerevoli progetti ideati insieme, Mercurio, un album cantautorale composto da nove brani, registrato nel silenzio del primo lockdown e diffuso sulle piattaforme musicali digitali e in radio.
Attraverso queste molteplici forme espressive l’artista esprime un pensiero libero, che si interroga sulle problematiche dell’esistente, per giungere a una visione sempre più ampia e plurale.
Dal 2012 al 2018, ha collaborato attivamente con l’artista Maria Grazia Galesi, con la quale ha creato il duo Vinci/Galesi.
Nel 2008 è stato l’ideatore e il fondatore di SITE SPECIFIC (www.sitespecific.it) una realtà indipendente gestita dall’Associazione Culturale non-profit PASS/O. Un progetto ambizioso e di ampio respiro che trasforma la città di Scicli in un Teatro Vivo, un luogo in cui la creatività contemporanea può abitare ed esistere.

This strong bond with music leads him to collaborate assiduously with the musician Vincent Migliorisi, with whom he also created, among the countless projects conceived together, Mercurio, a singer-songwriter album composed of nine songs, recorded in the silence of the first lockdown and broadcast on digital music platforms and on the radio.
Through these multiple forms of expression the artist expresses a free thought, which questions the problems of existence, to arrive at an increasingly broad and plural vision.
From 2012 to 2018, he actively collaborated with the artist Maria Grazia Galesi, with whom he created the duo Vinci/Galesi.
In 2008 he was the creator and founder of SITE SPECIFIC (www.sitespecific.it) an independent reality managed by the non-profit cultural association PASS/O. An ambitious and wide-ranging project that transforms the city of Scicli into a Living Theatre, a place where contemporary creativity can live and exist.

Nel gennaio del 2013 in collaborazione con altri professionisti crea S.E.M., acronimo di Spazi Espressivi Monumentali, un modello di sviluppo sostenibile che a Scicli ridisegna la gestione integrata dei monumenti, unendo contenuti culturali dell’arte e delle tradizioni a strategie economiche. In S.E.M. Sasha Vinci ricopre il ruolo di Direttore Artistico.
Da dicembre 2012 a settembre 2013 è stato Direttore Artistico del progetto CLANG.
Le opere si Sasha Vinci sono state presentate in diverse mostre nazionali ed internazionali e pubblicate su: Hi-Fructose Magazine, Flash Art, Artribune, Arte e Critica, Wall Street International, Exibart ed Exibart on paper, Abitare Magazine, Espoarte, Rivista Segno, Gestalt Gtk, El Pais, Diari De Girona (Dominical), Il Sole 24 ore, Panorama, L’Espresso, La Repubblica, Il Fatto Quotidiano, Kairós Magazine, Famiglia Cristiana, La Sicilia, Il Giornale di Sicilia, Il Giornale di Scicli. Nel 1999 si diploma presso l’Istituto Statale d’Arte “S. Fiume” di Comiso, sezione Scultura. Nel 2005 consegue la laurea in scultura all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze.

In January 2013, in collaboration with other professionals, he created S.E.M., acronym for Spazi Espressivi Monumentali, a model of sustainable development which redesigns the integrated management of monuments in Scicli, combining cultural contents of art and traditions with economic strategies. In S.E.M. Sasha Vinci holds the role of Artistic Director.
From December 2012 to September 2013 he was Artistic Director of the CLANG project.
