La sua pittura è un’espressione magmatica che racconta, attraverso l’incisione ritmica di segni e immagini, una sinergia tra più mondi: quelli dell’esperienza della percezione dello straordinario e quelli dell’immersione in paesaggi in cui i personaggi di una narrazione corale convergono.
Figure umane, animali e vegetali, trasfondendosi linfaticamente senza raggiungere una metamorfosi completa, rappresentano un mondo visivo le cui regole si basano sul continuo scambio di sostanze e sulla mescolanza della materia.
Barbara riprende da Goethe il concetto in cui la foglia è la pianta stessa “Alles ist Blatt” (Tutto è foglia) ma anche una figura metaforica del divenire della natura e della Steigerung (graduale ascesa), cioè che la composizione armonica di più organismi in un unico organismo, tende ad essere più elevato.

Barbara Cammarata è nata nel 1977, vive e lavora a Catania.
Nel 2018 è professore a contratto di Art Direction presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Catania.
Dal 2024 è professore di ruolo di Pittura presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Catania.
Dal 2019 è main artist della Galleria Collica & Partners.
La ricerca dell’artista si basa sull’indagine preliminare di un dato contesto, una esperienza che le consente di analizzare le componenti e le dinamiche presenti e quindi di interpretarle con una narrazione personale.
Un metodo transdisciplinare che ha nella pittura il medium principale. Ella traduce e restituisce un personale e immaginifico racconto del quotidiano visto con una prospettiva in cui uomo e natura costituiscono sistemi che non possono essere spiegati semplicemente come sommatoria dei singoli componenti, ma come organismi superiori frutto di una metamorfosi, immaginaria nei fatti, ma reale nelle potenziali conseguenze.
Come detto è prevalentemente una pittrice che tuttavia si esprime anche con opere tessili e installazioni tecnologicamente avanzate (collaborazione studio architettura Analogique).
La pittura pur apparendo ricca di variazioni cromatiche, è frutto di stesure più o meno materiche di grigio e quindi dei tre colori primari che per sovrapposizione e accostamento rendono la superficie dipinta vivace e spazialmente organizzata.
La complessa iconografia figurativa nello svolgersi del processo diviene sempre più ricca di tonalità e segni che paradossalmente rendono astratta la visione che si ricompone in figurazione grazie ad una lenta e attenta osservazione.

Barbara Cammarata was born in 1977, lives and works in Catania.
In 2018 she was a lecturer on contractr of Art Direction at the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania.
Since 2024 he has been a full professor of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania.
Since 2019 he has been the main artist of the Collica & Partners Gallery.
The artist’s research is based on a preliminary investigation of a given context, an experience that allows her to analyse the components and dynamics present and then interpret them with a personal narrative.
A transdisciplinary method that has painting as its main medium. She translates and renders a personal and imaginative tale of everyday life seen from a perspective in which man and nature constitute systems that cannot be explained simply as the sum of their individual components, but as superior organisms that are the result of a metamorphosis, imaginary in its facts but real in its potential consequences.
As mentioned, she is mainly a painter, but she also expresses herself in textile works and technologically advanced installations (collaboration with the architecture studio Analogique).
Although her painting is rich in chromatic variations, it is the result of more or less material layers of grey and thus of the three primary colours which, through superimposition and juxtaposition, make the painted surface lively and spatially organised.
As the process unfolds, the complex figurative iconography becomes richer and richer in tones and signs that paradoxically make the vision abstract, which is recomposed into figuration thanks to slow and careful observation.
